PORTSMOUTH- The Historic District Commission's first-ever architectural symposium last week was a contrast between those who wanted to keep Portsmouth's architectural character the same and others who wanted to experiment with new materials and designs to bring Portsmouth up to the 21st century.
Keynote speaker Max Ferro, a professor of architecture at Boston University and the University of Vermont, showed a series of slides of European cities and towns with all one thing in common - their architecture has not changed much in hundreds or even thousands of years.Back
